JOHN CAHILL BA(Hons) BArch (Hons Liverpool)
RIBA - Managing Director

John was educated at Stowe and trained at the Liverpool School of
Architecture where he developed an expertise in Computer Technology. John
then joined a practice in Central London and became an Associate in 1979.
He was responsible for completing many projects including several major
commercial developments around Greater London. He was also responsible for
the installation and integration of computer aided graphics and computer
technology generally. At that time this practice was in the forefront of
this technology.
Joining BH&M in 1983, John began by assisting Jon Barnsley in the
completion of some of the independent school projects including Stowe
School. He has since completed several prestige refurbishments in Central
London, work for the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases and was the
Director in Charge of the City Technology College in Telford. Since then
he assumed responsibility for the work at Charterhouse, Monmouth and
Marlborough.
John is responsible for all our promotional activity and, having been
appointed Managing Director in January 1993, is fully responsible for the
management of the company.
His interests are Rugby (he describes it as a religion) and was a London
Society Referee for ten years before stepping down from the Senior List in
1989 as he could not handle two full time jobs.
He is married to Sandy, who is Head of Transmission BBC Television and
executive producer of Children's day-time television. They have two

MICHAEL
HARRISON BA(Hons) Dip Arch RIBA - Director,

Mike was trained at The Polytechnic of Central London where he received
a First Class BA Honours degree and later his Diploma in Architecture. He won the RIBA
National Student Technical Prize in 1980 and was a part time technical tutor to the
College in 1982.
Prior to joining the practice in 1991 Mike worked for a small North London practice
gaining valuable experience on a variety of projects including major private houses and
commercial works. He then joined a practice in London's Docklands where he was Associate
in Charge of several large commercial, retail and residential projects. These included 64
luxury flats at St. Katherine's Dock and an office building in the City of London.
Since joining the practice Mike has been involved in the CTC Project in
Telford. He has been responsible for the working drawing programme for the large, new
Classroom Building for Abingdon School and the Sports Centre at Charterhouse. He is
currently also handling a major refurbishment programme for the Garrick Club in London, a
Grade II listed building.
Mike was appointed an Associate to the practice in 1992, and a Director in 1995 with
special responsibility for building technology.
He is married to Ann and has three children. This still allows time for him to pursue his
hobby as a keen motor sports enthusiast where he navigates for his identical twin brother.
Mike was also a Governor of his childrens primary school.

DAVID BRYAN BA(Hons) BArch
(Hons),

David
was educated at Maidstone Grammar School and trained at the School of
Architecture, University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
David joined the
practice in 1989 and quickly made his mark with his design and
presentation skills. Previously he had worked in Bristol and Bath, lastly
for Geoffrey Darke (formerly of Darbourne and Darke) in Richmond.
Since joining us he has been involved in the Arts and Performance Centre
for New Hall School, the Greening Laboratories and Mercers' Court, both
for Abingdon School. He was responsible for much of the design concept for
Telford City Technology College and Charterhouse Sports Centre and is now
involved in the design of all major projects.
David was appointed an Associate to the practice in 1993 and a Director in
1997. He was in charge of the new Arts and Technology Centre at Reigate
Grammar School and was responsible for the designs of a new Medical Centre
for Dulwich College. More recently he has been involved in the design of
the new Dining Hall at Sevenoaks School, the new Music School and Concert
Hall for St Paul's School Barnes, the new Dining Hall at Reigate Grammar
School and the new Swimming Pool, Music
School and Theatre at Marlborough College.
His interests include cycling, racing sailing dinghies (currently the
International 505 Class at Queen Mary Sailing Club) and the theatre/opera.
He is married to Karen, who is a Professor of Clinical Practice at the
European Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey.
They have two children.

STEPHEN W
LEECH Dip Arch (Leics), RIBA -

Steve has been involved with the practice since 1989 and has been
responsible for the continued development of information technology within the practice
including computer-aided design, drafting and 3D graphics. Steve has also developed many
of our efficient computer based systems including networking, internet and databases.
Steve developed his skills in design and construction while working with Castle Park
Hook and Partners in London and later during a spell in the early eighties in the
Caribbean with David Kenworthy Architects. His role as Project Architect included work on
many housing refurbishment contracts for Housing Corporation funded Housing Associations,
as well as Local Authority housing. Steve also completed several large office
refurbishments for British Telecom in the City and worked on numerous University of
Leicester laboratory projects. During a spell abroad in the Caribbean, Steve
was involved in several
major hotel and condominium developments on the island of St Maarten as well as many other
large houses for private clients around the Caribbean.
Steve also developed his considerable ability in management and computer technology and
programming, eventually setting up Arcade Architectural Computer Services Ltd., a CAD
bureau specifically for Architects. This venture led to setting up Park Leech Partnership,
Architects, which executed amongst others, two major University projects, an Arts &
Social Sciences Building and the New Space Centre Laboratory at the University of
Leicester, along with a 25 year Development Programme for the same Client.
Several other
projects were completed including an outline development scheme in Croydon and a private
swimming pool complex in Devon.
In his spare time, (a rare commodity), Steve designs and makes furniture and has
recently built a large conservatory at his home. He also runs a small wine importing business. His interests include Rugby,
Tennis and Golf and he is a proficient SCUBA diver. He is proud of the fact that he has
not missed an England home game at Twickenham since 1984!
Steve is married to Gay, who designs and makes jewellery, and has two children, both at University.

RAY POULTER
BA(Hons) BArch (Hons), RIBA - Associate rhp@bhmarchitects.com
Ray completed his
studies at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1986, joining Rolfe Judd Group
Practice to work on large commercial projects in the City of London. He qualified in 1988,
having moved to Humphrey Cook Associates where he spent four years as project architect on
a wide variety of commercial, industrial and residential contracts. He was made an
Associate in 1990.
In 1991 he moved to the Miller Partnership to work on the new Millwall Football Stadium
& Sports Centre which the club built in partnership with Lewisham Council. This
involved close contact with the Sports Council and Environmental Health officers in the
light of the Taylor Report. Following this he assumed responsibility for the practice's
Abbey National projects, completing four fast track conversions which ran simultaneously.
Ray joined BH&M in 1993 and was appointed an Associate in 1995. He was involved in the
detailed design and contract administration of the Sports Centre for Charterhouse School
in Godalming, completed in Autumn 1995. He has also been responsible for the design of a
new Students Union facility and was the Project Architect for the new Learning Resources
Centre at the Roehampton Institute. The latter was a complex £2m phased refurbishment of
an existing building to form a new Library and IT Centre for the whole Institute.
Ray lives in Streatham and enjoys music, books & foreign travel (when possible). He
plays football regularly for fitness, and more occasionally indulges in
horse riding and
water sports.

RICHARD
CAMPANINI - Associate

Richard was
trained at Kingston University, initially receiving a BA Hons degree, then later
successfully completing a 3 year day release course for a Master of Arts degree in
Architecture (Design & Theory). The Masters course allowed him to gain practical
experience working for a small London practice on a variety of commercial and residential
projects whilst at the same time concentrating both at University and home on the
theoretical and design aspects of Architecture.
Since joining BH&M in 1993 Richard has been involved with the
Sports Centre at Charterhouse. He has been responsible for various projects such as
Science Buildings for South Wigston High School in Leicester, Bishops Stortford High
School in Hertfordshire, Coopers Coborn School in Upminster; and for a Trinity School,
Dagenham - a new special needs school.
He was Project Architect for the new Sports Hall and
Music School at Papplewick School in Ascot, completed in Autumn 1998 as well
as Project Architect for Boarding house refurbishment and new build works at Dulwich College
and a new Dining Hall at Kitchens at Reigate Grammar School.
Richard was appointed an Associate to the practice in 1998.
He is married with three children. He plays football for a Sunday
morning league team, enjoys golf, squash, chess, art and spending time with his family.

ROBERT MACPHERSON
BA(Hons), DArch (Kingston), RIBA - Associate

Robert trained at the School of Architecture, Kingston
Polytechnic (now Kingston University) and completed his professional exams
in 1992 at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art, Dundee University. He
joined Barnsley Hewett and Mallinson in February 1997 and became an
Associate in 1998.
Robert is Associate in charge and project Architect for
the New Henry Honey Centre incorporating the Ellis Theatre at Marlborough
College. This is a 500 seat auditorium for proscenium theatre, music and
theatre in the round which includes multi retractable seating arrangements
and an 88 seat balcony. Attached is the Music school and rehearsal rooms
which total 13 practice rooms, 4 classrooms all music offices and all
interlinked to the auditorium with fibre optic cabling to allow recording
from foyer, rehearsal room and auditorium itself. This building will be
opened in September 2001.
Rob has worked at The Abbey School in
Reading constructing a new staff room, 6 new science laboratories and
refurbishing a further 6 plus 3 prep rooms, various classrooms and
offices. He has also worked at Elliott School in a rolling refurbishment
programme which has developed the disabled access, refurbished the
language suite and various classrooms to this Grade II listed 1954
festival of Britain school which is a beacon school and language centre.
He also worked at Charterhouse and built the Chetwynd Hall, New boarding
accommodation for girls as well as extending the Sports centre to provide
additional fitness accommodation and café. He was project architect for
New Hall School New swimming pool, Edgeborough School library and Prospect
House school nursery. He still uses his experience of domestic works
gained in Scotland and worked on a variety of housing projects in SW London.
Robert previously worked in Perthshire for five years
for both domestic and commercial clients. The alterations to Newton Castle
Grade A listed steading to a private library were nominated for the
Building of the year awards. Other Listed building works were for an art
gallery in Crail, Fife, Housing association development in Kinloch Rannoch,
refurbishment of Grade A listed Glenlyon House in Fortingall. New build
work included social and private housing in various communities in
Tayside, Highland and Fife together with agricultural work and medical
facilities.
He maintains his role as consultant architect to the
Clan Macpherson Museum in Newtonmore, Inverness-shire. He worked in
Australia on industrial systems while studying ecological and energy
efficient design and is married living in Twickenham and has a young
daughter.

NATHAN
BEEVERS, RIBA - Associate

Nathan was trained at the Leicester School of Architecture, De Montfort University.
Before completing his studies he joined David Glew: Architect & Surveyor, specialising in small works in and around Lincoln and restorative repairs for the Dean & Chapter of Lincoln Cathedral.
Returning to his studies in 1997, he researched Low Energy building systems for domestic and commercial applications. During this time he was also co-editor of 'DEMO', the architecture department's yearbook.
Nathan joined BH&M in 1999, and qualified in 2000. He was initially involved in the detailed design of numerous domestic commissions, and a Drama Workshop for Monmouth Boys' School
as well as an eight-lane swimming pool for Marlborough College.
He was appointed Regional Associate in May 2002, and was responsible for
running the practice's Northern branch office in Poynton, Cheshire.
Nathan was made full Associate in 2004 having returned from Manchester
to live in Hampshire.
Nathan is married to Sarah, a footwear designer for KangaROOS. !
A keen cricketer prior to university, he now devotes his spare energies
into learning to ski, reading, cinema and swimming. Nathan is also a
fairly mediocre fair-weather coarse angler!

CIARAN
DANCE RIBA - Associate cd@bhmarchitects.com
Ciaran completed her studies at the University of
Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1999. She worked in Nottingham for 2 years
between her degree courses where she was involved mainly with
educational projects for Colleges and Schools throughout England and
Wales but with some commercial and health projects.
Following her diploma
she moved to London and in June 2001 qualified at South Bank University.
Ciaran joined BH&M in
1999 and has since worked on a variety of projects. She was involved in the
detailed design and contract administration of the refurbished boarding
houses and Humphreys’ Hall Theatre at Caterham School and was the project
Architect for the New Boys’ boarding houses at Ardingly College near
Haywards Heath which was completed in Summer 2003. Ciaran was also involved
with the new swimming pool at Glenesk School in Surrey.
She is currently project architect for Dulwich College where she
worked on several
projects; the construction of their New Maintenance Facility due for
completion in August 2004 and the redevelopment of their existing composite
block into new changing rooms, classrooms, café, lecture theatre and sixth
form centre.
She has also worked
on several smaller projects including the extension and refurbishment of a
local hairdressing salon.
Ciaran is also
involved in works for the Royal Ballet School in Richmond Park working on a
new boarding house, headmistress’s house, dining hall, dance studios and
swimming pool along with refurbishment of the existing buildings.
Since joining BH&M,
Ciaran has become an invaluable member of the office and is well respected
amongst her colleagues.
Ciaran lives in
Dulwich and enjoys most sports, especially football, but her biggest passion
has to be collecting shoes.

Matt Weyham BA (Hons) Dip Arch. RIBA

Matt was educated at Old Swinford Hospital School and
went on to study Architecture at Plymouth and Heriot-Watt Universities.
He completed his degree with Honours in July 1997 and a postgraduate
diploma in July 2000. Matt went on to complete his professional studies
and qualify as an architect in 2002. After completing his studies in
Edinburgh, Matt joined Brocklehurst Architects in Buckinghamshire where
he worked on high specification residential projects together with
commercial, healthcare, leisure and conservation type projects. He then
moved to London and worked with Broadway Malyan Architects on the
conversion of the former Norfolk and Norwich Hospital to residential
use.
Since starting at BH&M, Matt has been the Project
Architect for new boarding houses, a new classroom building with theatre
facilities, staff housing and a City Academy. Matt has also looked after the maintenance and refurbishment of
the Grade I Listed Building White Lodge in Richmond Park for the Royal
Ballet School. He was appointed an Associate of BH&M in 2007.
He worked on the construction of six new classrooms and
theatre facilities at St Paul’s Girls’ School in London and the
refurbishment of the High Mistress’s house for the same school.
Matt has worked on a new City Academy in White City
and the refurbishment of Grade II Listed boarding houses at St John’s
School, Leatherhead. He deals with every aspect of the project, including
all Client liaison, planning, tender, project running and construction
issues.
He lives in London with his fiancée Shui who is a
Conservation Officer for Westminster City Council Planning Department. Matt
enjoys sailing, skiing, travelling, cycling, restoring classic cars and going out
with friends.(back
