Barnsley Hewett and Mallinson were commissioned to design the new swimming pool for Marlborough College.

The pool is eight lanes wide and designed with a 2m deep flat floor for 2/3 of its length with 1/3 of the pool having a 3m deep section. This section has a floating floor and boom. This allows for part of the pool to have depth variation from zero – for disabled access, down to 3m for sub aqua. The floor and boom can also be set to 2m for water polo or any depth between for teaching small children. The mechanics of this floor are set behind glass doors viewable from the pool deck and spectator platform. The pool centre incorporates four wet side changing rooms for classes of up to fifty at each time and two changing rooms for external sports.

The project started on site in November 2000 and was completed in 2002.
